Twenty-four hours into his first ever CFL Rookie Camp, BC Lions quarterback prospect, Kyle Parrish is getting a lot of field experience.

Parrish is the only quarterback at the rookie camp, meaning his throwing arm is getting an extensive workout.

"I actually enjoy it," Parrish told TEAM 1040. "I get all the reps. I get a lot of work, I get better. The only thing that's missing is the competition, but again, I get more reps. It gives me a chance to get better at playing."

Parris says there is always pressure to perform at the quarterback position. Whether or not he is the only one throwing passes, the role of quarterback is always a mental game.

"I don't mind. I don't mind at all. If I mess up the next play there is always a new play."

Parrish comes into camp from Ferris State University in Michigan. He finished a two-year, 19-game career with the Bulldogs completing 202 of 375 passes for a total of 1,318 yards and four touchdowns.

Born in Garden Grove, California, Parrish didn't exactly grow up dreaming of playing in Canada.

"I didn't know much about it [CFL]," said Parrish. "I did pay attention to it. I thought it might be an opportunity to actually be a part of it and here I am."

Now that Parrish is in Canada, at Lions camp, he is excited about hitting the field with the Lions veterans. It's a chance for him to learn from the pros and develop his skills.

"I can't wait ‘til they get here, to see them play, and see how it's really done and critique myself off of them" said Parrish. "I'm stoked."

The veterans arrive at Hillside Stadium on Saturday, June 5.

The entire Lions squad hits the field for training camp Sunday, June 6.
