Vancouver police are on the lookout for a possible arsonist in Stanley Park after tents and belongings at three squatter campsites were set on fire this week.

Officers will be stepping up patrols in the park after the discovery of the burning campsites near Second Beach on Thursday morning. In each case, firefighters discovered tents, tarps and other goods in flames, as well as a propane canister that had exploded.

No one was injured in the blazes, but significant damage was done to the squatters' belongings.

Firefighters say the fires appear to have been deliberately set, and arson investigators with the Vancouver Police Department have taken over the case.

Police have not identified the occupants of the burned campsites, and no one has come forward to speak with investigators.
