VANCOUVER -- Three men were arrested Sunday morning, not long after witnesses reported seeing people smashing a front window of a downtown nightclub and setting the premises on fire.
Const. Tim Fanning of the Vancouver city police said three men were seen by witnesses breaking the front window of the Au Bar Club, located in the heart of downtown Vancouver.
The fire department arrived quickly and extinguished the fire, said Fanning, adding that one witness managed to get the licence number of the suspect's car.
A short time later three men were arrested on the North Shore and are now in police custody. Arson Investigators have been called in.
The fire damage was minimal, but there is extensive water damage.
Fanning said names and ages of the suspects arrested were not immediately available.
