Every Friday, Lynda Steele dips into the viewer mailbag to answer your questions. This week, Steele on Your Side, takes a closer look at tap-and-go limits on debit cards and dashboard cameras in vehicles.

Tap limit on contactless debit cards

Many credit and debit cards now have the tap-and-go technology that lets you pay without a PIN code. Tim wants to know if his card is stolen how many times in a day someone could use it before reaching a daily tap limit?

Each bank has its own rules. RBC says there's a limit of $100 on each transaction but once you've spent $200 overall you'll be asked to enter your PIN code to reset your limits.

With TD cards, you have a spending limit of $100 before you need to enter your PIN to reset your limit.

Your best bet is to check in with your financial institution to find out what your daily tap limits are.

Dashboard cameras

After watching CTV's story about bad drivers being caught by dashboard cameras, Kwai emailed us to ask if ICBC accepts dash cam videos as evidence in a claim.

ICBC told us that it does accept video evidence from dashboard cameras or cell phones, but primarily relies on police and witness reports.

If you want this extra evidence in the case of an accident, make sure the dash cam is securely attached to your vehicle and doesn't pose a distraction to the driver.
