Public boozing continues to be the biggest problem plaguing Vancouver police in the Stanley Cup playoffs, with roughly 2,850 pour-outs tallied after the Canucks' Game 5 victory Friday night.
Police estimate crowds in excess of 100,000 converged downtown to celebrate, with many partying into the early morning hours on Saturday.
Const. Jana McGuiness said fans were once again generally well behaved, but that a few windows were broken and 24 people were arrested for breach of peace or public drunkenness.
"We're certainly coming across a lot of liquor and we're dealing with it, but we need to remind people there's just no place for it in crowds of this size," McGuinness said.
The liquor pour-outs were significantly higher than during Game 2 of the series, which saw 891 bottles dumped. Vancouver police poured out about 2,000 bottles Friday night, while Transit Police poured out the remaining 850.
Police also dished out 120 violation tickets for fighting, liquor offences and public urination.
No major injuries were reported, but McGuinness said BC Ambulance paramedics were kept busy all night treating minor wounds.
