Wednesday night's Celebration of Light in Vancouver's English Bay was also a celebration of alcohol, according to officials.

Vancouver police said while crowds were noticeably lighter than Saturday's fireworks display, liquor violations increased. Officers poured out 535 containers of alcohol, double the number of incidents reported last Wednesday. Three people were arrested for public intoxication.

Const. Lindsey Houghton told CTV News one person was so intoxicated he had to be taken to hospital.

Houghton said the vast majority of revelers were positive, friendly and family-oriented.

Officers reported ten liquor seizures and seven drug seizures.

Three weapons were confiscated, including a collapsible baton, one barbell and a switchblade knife.

Houghton said there were several fights after the fireworks ended, but all dispersed when officers arrived.

The VPD marine squad spotted a possibly stolen vessel among the hundreds of boats that turned out for the event and another boat began taking on water but was escorted to a nearby dock before the situation became critical.

The final night of the Celebration of Light is this Saturday.
