Mounties in several Okanagan communities tried to catch him, but it was officers in West Kelowna who finally corralled a man wanted for a string of impaired driving complaints on the same day around southern B.C.
West Kelowna RCMP say they were called late Tuesday night to tag a 46-year-old suspect who was heading their way, allegedly fleeing from officers in Summerland, 40 kilometres to the south.
But the man didn't get far after losing control of his car and running it off the road near a roadblock.
Police say the vehicle that had flipped over a few times was demolished but the man wasn't hurt -- even able to struggle with officers who picked him up as he walked along the road.
The Summerland resident is now being investigated for a total of four drunk driving incidents reported Tuesday between West Kelowna and Penticton, and he's also facing charges ranging from dangerous driving to resisting arrest.
Investigators also say records show the man shouldn't be behind the wheel for another 50 years -- when his current driving prohibition expires on his 96th birthday.
