Three more Tamil migrants of the hundreds detained since they arrived aboard the MV Sun Sea off Vancouver Island last month have been ordered released by the Immigration and Refugee Board.

The three men bring the total number of people ordered set free to 12.

One of the 12 will stay in custody until at least next month after a Federal Court ruled in favour of Ottawa's motion to overturn the decision in order to cement her identity.

That means the mother of three who thought she had gained freedom will remain in custody until the government is satisfied.

Two of the men most recently ordered released must post bonds of $5,000 and $1,500, which hasn't been required for the others released.

On Aug. 13, a rusty freighter loaded with 492 Tamil men, women and children landed in Esquimalt, B.C.
