Police in China say they've made an arrest in the stabbing death of a British Columbia model in Shanghai.

Police posted a statement on their website saying 18-year-old Chen Jun confessed to killing 22-year-old Diana O'Brien earlier this week.

Police say Chen followed O'Brien into her apartment with the intention of robbing her.

The statement says O'Brien was killed after a struggle, though it does not say exactly how the model died. Previous reports indicated she had been stabbed.

O'Brien, a native of Salt Spring Island, B.C., came to China last month to pursue her modelling career.
