Vancouver may be a city full of foodies, but a new survey suggests they’re not leaving a very generous tip after their meal.

Payment company Square says people in Vancouver are among the lowest tippers in the country, tied only with Calgary.

Apparently Vancouverites only tip 13.4 per cent, a little more than 60 per cent of the time.

Ottawa was tops when it came to tipping, at 15.6 per cent, followed by Montreal and Toronto.

The BC Restaurant and Food Association suggests that restaurant patrons should leave a 15 to 20 per cent tip, if you have good service.

The survey was compiled by transactions using Square’s mobile payment technology. In addition to restaurants, it also covered tipping in taxis, spas, hairdressers and bars.
