The son of a 62-year-old woman found dead in Richmond Tuesday afternoon has been named as a suspect in her killing.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said officers are searching for Darwin Lescano, 38, in connection with the death of his mother Redelma Belisario.

Anyone who knows Lescano’s whereabouts is advised not to approach him, and asked to call police immediately.

Family members found Belisario’s body in a home on Woodhead Road around 3:30 p.m. Neighbours said police have been called to the home before.

"There has been police incidents on a consistent basis," said Rav Ratnam. "Every three months they show up for one reason or another."

Mounties said an autopsy will be required to confirm Belisario’s cause of death, but it’s believed she met with foul play.

IHIT is working with the Richmond RCMP detachment and BC Coroners Service, and officers are expected to be at the home for some time.

Investigators have also asked for security footage from a neighbouring home, though the owner told CTV News the cameras only record the street in front of his property.

Anyone with information can contact the IHIT tip line at 1-877-551-4448 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
