Police identify Surrey homicide victim found in SUV

Investigators have released the identity of the deceased man found in an SUV in Surrey last week.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team identified the man on Thursday as 34-year-old Michael Donald Amy of Abbotsford.

Amy’s body was discovered shortly before 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 27. He was in an SUV in the 9500-block of 139th Street, just a block away from Surrey Memorial Hospital.

IHIT’s media relations officer Sgt. Stephanie Ashton said Thursday that investigators believe Amy’s death “was not a random act.”
