B.C.’s police watchdog has been called to investigate an officer-involved shooting that put one person in hospital Thursday.
The shooting took place outside a strip mall at 148th Street and 108th Avenue in Surrey shortly before 6 p.m.
Few details have been confirmed but witnesses told CTV News that police shot a man who was sitting in the backseat of a car.
The extent of his injuries is unknown but he could be heard wailing in pain while being loaded into an ambulance.
Two other people in the vehicle were arrested, according to a source working nearby.
The Independent Investigations Office confirms it is probing the incident but has released no further details.
