The quick thinking of three Good Samaritans helped save a woman’s life after a bad car crash in Surrey Wednesday night.

According to RCMP, the driver suffered a medical emergency, losing control of her car on 24 Avenue near 142 Street just before 6 p.m.

She swerved into oncoming traffic then went into a ditch, causing her white Volkswagen to roll over and hit a pole before the vehicle burst into flames.

Chris Griffiths saw the frightening crash along with two other witnesses, and all knew they needed to help.

“We had no choice but to lift her out of the car because of the flames,” Griffiths said. “We didn’t know how quickly it was going to spread, we thought it was going to go shooting up.”

The men were able to pull the woman from the wreckage while flames overtook her vehicle.

First responders were able to stabilize the woman.

Bystanders said she was conscious, but still having trouble holding a complete conversation. She was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
