A man was hospitalized and a family’s dog was killed in a pair of separate shootings committed just hours apart in Surrey this week.
The first was reported in a busy neighbourhood near 128 Street and 60 Avenue around 8:40 p.m. Thursday. Mounties said a 21-year-old local man, who is known to police, later showed up at hospital with a gunshot wound.
The extent of his injury hasn’t been released, but police said it is not life-threatening.
About four hours later, the RCMP received a report of shots being fired into a family home near 127 Street and 100 Avenue. Officers arrived to find bullet holes in the front door and front window.
The only person inside at the time was unharmed, but a three-year-old pit bull-mastiff cross was killed.
Both shootings are believed to be targeted, according to the RCMP, but there’s no indication yet that they are connected to each other.
Police spent Tuesday gathering evidence and canvassing the scenes for witnesses, and asked anyone with information on either shooting to come forward.
