RCMP in B.C.'s Lower Mainland say speed is considered a contributing factor in a car crash that has left two people dead.

Police were called to the single-vehicle collision on Highway 3 near Manning Park on Saturday around 5:40 p.m.

Officers found a late model Dodge pickup that had gone off the road and plunged down a steep embankment after failing to make a curve.

The 56-year-old driver, from Richmond, and a 43-year-old rear passenger, from Delta, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third passenger, the 32-year-old son of the driver, survived the crash with minor injuries.

Police continue to investigate the crash and are still notifying family members.
