Plunging temperatures have given local ski resorts another chance at winter.
Crews at Cypress Mountain have been firing their snow guns for three days, and managed to open two runs Wednesday morning.
The ski hill suspended operations in mid-February due to lack of snow, but a hopeful update on the Cypress website said the season could still turn around the way it did in 2010.
“We had warm sunny days throughout many of the event days in late February, then had a ton of snow and great deep powder conditions late in the season,” it said.
Grouse Mountain opened part of its ski area , and is opening more terrain Wednesday.
Climatologists from the University of British Columbia have dubbed the dismal ski season on the North Shore Mountains the worst in a century, and a statistical anomaly.
They warn without action on climate change, bare ski hills in the region could become the norm by 2085.
