Cypress Mountain became the latest B.C. ski resort to fall victim to the warm weather, announcing Tuesday that it will suspend operations until further notice.
A post on the resort’s Facebook page stated that while the best winter weather may be yet to come, the lack of snow means the resort won’t be able to operate.
“With the weatherman continuing to be uncooperative over the next forecast period, Cypress will now have our operations on standby and ready to re-open at the first sign of new snowfall or a snowmaking opportunity,” the post read.
Season passholders are eligible for a rebate that will be calculated at the end of the season. The rebate can be applied to next year’s season pass.
Hemlock Ski Resort in the Fraser Valley announced Feb. 4 it would be shutting down for the rest of the season and offered season passholders a refund.
Mount Seymour is also on standby with no runs currently open.
Grouse Mountain was forced to postpone the 24 Hours of Winter festival along with the Snowshoe Grind Challenge which were both scheduled to take place over the B.C. Family Day long weekend. It currently has only one chair open, no snowshoeing, and is discounting rates.
