Every Friday, Consumer Reporter Lynda Steele dips into the mailbag to answer your questions. This week, Steele on Your Side investigates TransLink’s reimbursement offer and a BMO phishing scam.

TransLink’s refund offer

Sam wrote Steele on Your Side about TransLink's offer to reimburse riders for the May 22nd service disruption.

If a customer submits their May monthly fare card they'll receive two fare savers as a refund. But Sam points out, if you send in your May monthly fare card in, you won't be able to submit it for your 2015 tax credit.

TransLink told CTV News it will accept a photocopy of a passenger's monthly pass to obtain the reimbursement. That allows customers to keep their original pass for any tax deductions.

You can also pick up your refund at the customer service kiosk at the stadium sky train station this month.  Service hours are being extended for the month of June.

BMO phishing scam

Ann wrote CTV News after getting a suspicious text from BMO. The text said BMO had locked her account for verifications. In order to activate it, she was told to click on a link attached.

BMO says this is a phishing scam attempting to obtain your confidential information. The bank says it will never ask customers to supply sensitive information via email or text.
