Every Friday, Lynda Steele dips into the viewer mailbag to answer your questions. This week, Steele on Your Side looks at cancelling camping plans and donating used baby items.

Camping “no show”

Andrea wrote CTV News after being declared a "no show" at a B.C. campsite. When she didn't arrive, B.C. Parks kept her money and re-booked the site to new campers. She wants to know why she wasn't given a refund if new campers were on the site.

B.C. Parks says customers are asked to review and agree to the refund policy before booking a site. Reservations are held until 11:00 a.m. the morning after the first reserved night. After that time, you're considered a no-show and will not receive a refund for the fees you’ve paid.

Those policies apply regardless if the site is resold or not.

B.C. Parks says Andrea agreed to that when booking the site. However, it will still review her request for a refund.

Donating baby items

Sylvia wrote us to ask where she can donate used baby items directly to mothers of families in need, rather than thrift stores.

We did some research and found an organization called BabyGoRound.

BabyGoRound collects gently used baby gear and clothing for children up to four years old.

It works with 30 referral agencies throughout the Lower Mainland and sets up appointments with referred families. The family then visits its facility and receives whatever they need, free of charge.

BabyGoRound is the only organization in the Lower Mainland that offers this type of service. It says it is always in need of donations, especially essential gear like cribs, highchairs and strollers.
