A woman in her 20s was found dead at the Occupy Vancouver protest located outside the Vancouver Art Gallery.
A friend of the deceased woman found her inside a tent around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and initially thought she was sleeping. The woman was given CPR, but could not be revived.
The area was blocked off for ambulances and fire trucks to come in. The young woman was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.
Police said they do not believe the death is suspicious.
The woman's death occurred among increasing controversy regarding the safety of Occupy Vancouver's tent city.
On Friday occupants were warned by fire officials to remove all tarps, fuels and empty tents from the site as they posed potential hazards. The day before a man nearly died of an overdose at the camp.
