We've traded our snow shovels for umbrellas for now in the Lower Mainland, but you know more snow is coming eventually. So before you have to dig out again take a look at a new invention that could save you a lot of hard work.
The "Wovel", a wheeled shovel, is supposed to help you clear your driveway three times faster and it's designed to be easier on your heart and back.
If you don't want a snow blower, but are tired of using your regular shovel the Wovel could be for you. The price is $120. It's sold online and is coming soon to a Home Depot near you.
The price is a drawback -- $120 is steep. I can get a good metal shovel for around $25. But if you compare the Wovel to a sitting on snow blower at $6,500 it looks like a deal. And it might be one of those things that the price comes down as it becomes more widely available.
And while you're thinking about the Wovel, keep in mind that it's a good idea -- during this winter lull -- for everyone to take stock and buy the things you know you're going to need sooner or later. Salt, sand, even snow tires sold out in many stores during the last snow storm. Don't wait until the first flakes start falling again. There's lots of winter left to come and what you don't use this year -- you'll need next year.
