Richmond Mounties are recommending charges of mischief and willfully promoting hatred against two teenagers suspected of scrawling racist graffiti at multiple locations in the city earlier this year.

The graffiti was reported March 5 at Gilmore Elementary School, a gas station on Blundell Road and a travel trailer on Seafair Drive. Each instance featured swastikas, racial slurs and white supremacy markings.

Cpl. Sherrdean Turley said investigators were assisted by the BC Hate Crimes Section.

The suspects, ages 15 and 16, are Richmond residents. Their identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and will not be released.

The charges have not yet been approved.
