Police pulling over a speeding driver netted a stash of marijuana worth more than $100,000 on Wednesday.

Delta police stopped the pickup truck driver after seeing him driving above the posted limit on Kitsen Park Way.

The officer reported the smell of marijuana emanating from inside the cab.

Police say a sweep of the vehicle with the help of a K-9 team member uncovered 50 pounds of drugs in a covered box in the truck.

The 30-year-old driver was taken into custody without incident. The Surrey resident faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance.

He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
