Testimony from the Mountie in charge of the unit that investigated the death of Robert Dziekanski has been delayed at the public inquiry into Dziekanski's death.

Supt. Wayne Rideout, chief of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, was to appear before the inquiry to explain why the RCMP didn't correct inaccurate information they released to the public about the circumstances of Dziekanski's death.

But his testimony was delayed until Wednesday, after he showed up with previously unseen notes about the controversial case and said there were also undisclosed emails.

Lawyers at the inquiry say they need time to study the new information before questioning Rideout.

Dziekanski died at Vancouver airport in October 2007 after being repeatedly stunned with an RCMP Taser.

Inquiry commissioner Thomas Braidwood has ruled Rideout can only be questioned about why RCMP didn't correct information that was clearly contradicted by a witness video of Dziekanski's death, and why investigators waited three weeks to return the video to its owner.
