Teen hiker spends chilly night lost in Lions Bay

An 18-year-old hiker is chilly, but safe, after spending the night lost on a trail in the Lions Bay area just north of Vancouver.

A search began at around midnight after the woman and her hiking partner became separated while hiking the rugged trail near the Lions, at around sunset Wednesday.

One member of the Lions Bay Search and Rescue team made voice contact with the teen at around 6 a.m.

That searcher located the unidentified hiker and two more members of the rescue team were airlifted to the area about an hour later.

They say the teen is in excellent condition, despite her ordeal.
