Police are searching for a lone suspect after a 42-year-old woman was attacked in a Surrey parking lot on Friday.

The woman was walking to her vehicle in the upper parking area at the south end of Central City mall around 5:30 p.m. when a man approached her from behind. The suspect wrapped his arms around the woman's upper body and covered her mouth with his hand before pushing her into her open vehicle, RCMP said in a release.

The man attempted to take off the woman's clothing, but she broke free from the attacker and screamed for help. The man then fled on foot.

Police described the suspect as a Caucasian man in his mid to late 20s who had an unshaven face. He has an average build and is about 5-8 tall. He was wearing blue jeans, running shoes and a green hoodie with a "Canada" logo on the back. No scars, tattoos or marks were seen on him.

The woman, who works at the mall, did not need medical attention. Police are calling the attack "an isolated incident."
