A Surrey, B.C., Mountie has been found guilty of assaulting a man arrested after a break and enter at a school.

The incident happened in July 2007 when Const. Frank Lampert was among several officers dealing with six men found at the school.

The RCMP say Lampert slammed one of the men onto the hood of a police car several times after the handcuffed man made a comment to another prisoner.

The prisoner was not hurt but other officers saw what happened and Lampert was charged with assault.

The five-year Mountie was found guilty Wednesday and is expected to be sentenced in February but remains in active duty.

Lambert also faces an internal RCMP disciplinary hearing.
