A West Vancouver jewelry store owner says he dodged two bullets while pursuing three men who had robbed him Tuesday afternoon.

Police later arrested four people in connection with the armed robbery.

Gino Giragosian said shortly before noon three men walked into his store, Absolute Star Design, on Marine Drive.

Giragosian said one of the men pulled a gun on him and had him lie on the floor while the other men smashed his display cases and stuffed a bag with jewelry, including diamonds, sapphires and gold chains.

The men then casually walked out of the store, at which point Giragosian says he pursued the men with bear spray.

Giragosian said he yelled, "Help! Help! I've been robbed!"

As he chased them toward their car, Giragosian said one of the suspects turned and fired at him twice. He was not hit.

Police immediately began a search of the area.

A short time later, a car matching the description was located abandoned in the eastbound lanes of Trans-Canada Highway just west of Capilano River, said West Vancouver police Const. Jeff Palmer.

A man was arrested nearby, Palmer said.

Not long after that, three other men were arrested in the 300-block of MacBeth Crescent.

Two nearby schools were locked down as a precaution.
