Liberal leadership candidate Moira Stilwell says she would lobby for $10 million to fund a northern B.C. college if she becomes premier.
Stilwell is proposing the provincial government fund the College of New Caledonia in Prince George over four years to provide new civil engineering and bioenergy programs.
Stilwell, who stepped down shortly after being appointed Minister of Advanced Education to run for leadership, says the money would support northern B.C.'s knowledge-based economy.
Prior to being elected in 2009, Stilwell was the head of nuclear medicine at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver.
There are four other candidates bidding for the Liberals' top job in the province including Kevin Falcon, George Abott, Mike de Jong and Ed Mayne.
B.C. Liberal party members will vote on Feb. 25 to select a new leader.
