A 28-year-old man who escaped from a psychiatric ward earlier this week and became a suspect in two armed robberies has turned himself in to police.

Vancouver police say Hunter Paul Harcus turned himself in to authorities at the Main Street station at 2:20 p.m. Saturday.

Harcus had escaped from the psychiatric ward of a Vancouver hospital on Tuesday evening.

The following day, he was taken into custody in the 7400 block of Fraser Street in Vancouver and returned to hospital.

On Thursday, the hospital discharged Harcus, according to Vancouver police Const. Jana McGuinness.

Friday night, Vancouver police announced that Harcus was the suspect in two armed robberies in Burnaby earlier that day and issued a public warning.

Vancouver police say Harcus will be transferred to Burnaby RCMP.
