Even though Gordon Campbell has called it quits, recall campaigners across the province say they're not packing it in and have their sights firmly set on Liberal MLAs.
In the Cariboo-Chilcotin riding, Liberal Donna Barnett won the last election in a squeaker, beating NDP opponent Charlie Wyse by fewer than 100 votes after a recount.
In a region where hatred of the harmonized sales tax is palpable, Barnett is one of the most vulnerable MLAs to a recall.
Former anti-HST campaigner Eric Freeston is in charge of the recall campaign in the riding, and he's gearing up to recall Barnett -- no matter who the premier is.
"Right at the moment it's not changing anything," Freeston told CTV News.
"We still have the HST in place, and we're looking at having that referendum gate pushed up considerably, with a fair and equitable question that's going to be understood by the public."
He says his recall campaign could go ahead with or without the blessing of Bill Vander Zalm's Fight HST machine.
"The riding itself decides whether it wants to go to recall."
Anti-HST strategist Bill Tieleman says the campaign will continue across the province.
"Once [Campbell]'s gone, who knows what's going to happen. We want to make sure that HST is gone, and we don't want to depend on the promise of a premier who will be gone by the time of the referendum," he said.
