Anyone hoping to travel to or from B.C.'s Queen Charlotte Islands is out of luck for at least a few days.

The ferry servicing the area broke down Friday, barely making it to port.

The MV Northern Adventure isn't expected to be back in the water until Tuesday, according to a spokesperson for BC Ferries. That means no trips between the Islands and the northern city of Prince Rupert.

The company blames the failure on a mechanical part that needs to be replaced.

The Northern Adventure replaced the Queen of the North, which sank on that route three years ago.
