VANCOUVER -- Vancouver Police are asking anyone who witnessed what they’re describing as a “possibly violent confrontation” between a man and woman outside a Walmart on Sunday to get in touch right away.
Sgt. Steve Addison said it happened around 8:15 p.m. in the store’s parking lot on Grandview Highway near Boundary Road.
A witness saw a man and woman involved in an altercation near a black Dodge Challenger, and reported it to a store employee, who called police. Officers were nearby when the 911 call came in, but when they arrived, the vehicle was gone.
“We don’t know the relationship between those two people, we don’t know if there were any injuries, we don’t even know if there was a crime,” Addison said.
“But because whatever was seen by the witness was concerning enough that he told staff inside to call police, we want to speak to that person.”
A man police said was the “primary witness” is described as white, in this 60s with grey hair and a beard, who was driving a grey SUV.
“Unfortunately, none of the people who were here, who saw what happened, who have first-hand knowledge, stayed behind to speak to the police, and we haven’t yet been able to speak to them to get a more fulsome understanding about what happened,” Addison said.
People who have information can call detectives at 604-717-2541, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
