For more than a decade, Maria has been working as a journalist in Metro Vancouver. Born in New Westminster, she spent most of her school years in Prince George after her family moved north. Her love of writing brought her back to the south coast and led her to the broadcast journalism program at BCIT.
Over the course of her career, Maria has had the chance to try out many different roles: from radio reporter to anchor to TV host. She has also travelled to cover breaking news across the province and beyond. She is proud to have contributed to CTV’s coverage of the 2009 wildfires in Kelowna, which was named the ‘Best Newscast’ by the Radio and Television News Directors Association.
Maria always enjoys meeting new people and finding a way to tell their stories. In her spare time, Maria likes to travel, read, watch movies and drink B.C. wine.
