Mounties are investigating the death of an eight-month-old baby at a Kelowna motel, but say there is no sign of suspicious activity.
Emergency responders were called to the Siesta Motor Inn after the boy, who was staying with his family from Williams Lake, went into respiratory distress on Monday morning.
Const. Kris Clark said paramedics performed CPR on the baby before transporting him to hospital, but he could not be revived.
The family's motel room was sealed off for examination. Though there's nothing to indicate foul play, Clark said the investigation could take a while to complete because the family members who were present may be too distraught to give statements.
Victim services have been called to assist the family and will be providing ongoing support.
