B.C.'s police complaints commissioner has ordered a hearing into allegations of unlawful entry and excessive force against two Delta police officers.

The hearing will look into an incident at a Surrey, B.C., home in January 2008, involving Cst. Steve Wilson and Cst. Sukhprit Sidhu.

Deputy Police Complaint Commissioner Bruce Brown said Tuesday the officers were on duty at the time and were conducting an investigation in the neighbouring city.

RCMP police the City of Surrey, but Brown said it's not uncommon for officers to cross jurisdictions during investigations.

"The police officers were conducting an investigation into an incident that had occurred in Delta," Brown said.

He wouldn't release more details about the incident, saying he wanted to protect the integrity of the hearing process.

The allegations concern the police entry into a home, use-of-force against both the homeowner and his son, and the arrest of the son.

Delta Police Chief Cst. Jim Cessford determined earlier that the allegations against the officers were unsubstantiated.

When the commissioner asked Cessford to review his decision the chief decided he didn't have the jurisdiction under the Police Act.

"The police complaint commissioner then determined it was necessary to order a public hearing," said Brown.
