An animal rights group intends to launch a new campaign in Vancouver Wednesday afternoon using the upcoming Olympic Games to focus attention on Canada's seal hunt.

Members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals believe Olympic organizers will be able to convince the federal government to end the East Coast hunt.

The group has a rally planned in front of Vancouver City Hall at 1 p.m.

PETA's new campaign will feature the 2010 Inukshuk logo clubbing a seal, with the five Olympic rings dripping blood.

Vancouver's Olympic Organizing Committee is not commenting on the plans saying the federal government is responsible for those details.
