Mounties in Surrey, B.C., are urging potential witnesses to come forward after a pedestrian was killed in a hit and run accident early Saturday morning.

Investigators say the man was struck by an eastbound vehicle on Fraser Highway near 168th Street at about 12:50 a.m.

Authorities do not have a suspect vehicle description, but say it may have damaged headlights.

It is believed the victim was on a bus before the accident, and that there was an altercation on board.

TransLink spokesman Drew Snider said the man fought with another passenger and caused some damage.

"He kicked out the window in the back door," Snider said.

He said the man, who passengers described as about 19, ran off the bus shortly before he was struck and killed.

The Surrey Traffic Services is investigation and asks anyone who may have information about the incident to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
