An overdose of both cocaine and heroin is responsible for the death of 23-year-old Ashlie Gough at Occupy Vancouver last week, the BC Coroners Service has confirmed after receiving toxicology test results.
Gough was found unconscious by a friend in a tent camped on the Vancouver Art Gallery grounds on Nov. 5 at around 4:40 p.m. At first her friend mistook her as sleeping, but when she did not respond she was given CPR. Gough could not be revived. She was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.
Investigators believe Gough had likely died hours before she was discovered alone in a tent. The young woman was a Victoria resident who had come to Vancouver to participate in the city's Occupy demonstration.
The BC Coroners Service is continuing an investigation into her death.
