B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell says by-elections in two provincial ridings won't take place until after the Oct. 14 federal election.
Last week, Campbell said he doesn't want the two B.C. by-elections confused with a federal election.
Campbell says he's on the verge of calling the by-elections to fill the two Vancouver-area seats to be replaced in the B.C. legislature.
New Democrat Gregor Robertson left to run for the mayor of Vancouver, and Liberal Lorne Mayencourt is running as the Conservative candidate for Parliament in Vancouver-Centre.
B.C. voters will go to the polls provincially in a fixed-date election next May.
Campbell also says Liberal House Leader Mike de Jong will make a statement next week about whether or not the government will recall the B.C. legislature for a fall sitting.
The B.C. Liberals came under heavy fire earlier this month for canceling the fall legislative session. At the time, de Jong said there was no need for a fall session to deal with any extraordinary legislation.
The Opposition New Democrats have been calling for a fall session to debate the carbon tax and pay raises granted to some high-level bureaucrats, including an increase of almost $105,000 for Campbell's deputy minister.
