After spending five months probing the murder of 67-year-old Patrick Alexander LeBlanc, B.C. homicide investigators travelled halfway across Canada last week to arrest two suspects.
LeBlanc's body was found on April 9 in an abandoned car that had been left in a New Westminster parking lot.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team later determined he had been killed at a Vancouver warehouse and transported out of the city.
"IHIT investigators continued to identify witnesses, advance the investigation and secure crucial evidence which was sufficient to support charges against two suspects," Cpl. Dale Carr said in a release.
Last week, IHIT officers travelled to Brandon, Man., to arrest 28-year-old Glen Roberts Anhert and to the Niagara area of Ontario to arrest 38-year-old Russel Brian Benson.
Both arrests were assisted by local Mounties and civic police forces, and Insp. Kevin Hackett credited cross-agency cooperation for their successful execution.
"This is an example of how police agencies not only in the Lower Mainland region, but across the country can work together and be highly effective," he said in a release.
Benson and Anhert have both been charged with second degree murder.
