A new judge will take over the lengthy legal saga surrounding the BC Rail scandal.
The case, which began with a raid on the British Columbian legislature more than five years ago, has been bogged down by pre-trial arguments and, more recently, a related appeal in the Supreme Court of Canada.
Justice Elizabeth Bennett, who was overseeing the case in B.C. Supreme Court, has been appointed to the provincial Court of Appeal.
But special prosecutor Bill Berardino says Bennett's appointment, which means a new judge will have to be selected, shouldn't cause even more delays.
