VANCOUVER - Neighbours in Merritt, B.C. say that they did not see Darcie Clarke on the weekend that her three children were stabbed to death in the family home.
RCMP Cpl. Pierre LeMaitre said Tuesday that police had no comment on the issue.
Police have rejected earlier media reports that Clarke was out of her house for a few minutes, then returned to find the children dead, although they have said the father of the children, Allan Schoenborn, was alone with them for a period of time on April 6 before they were called.
Schoenborn is the prime suspect in the slaying, and the subject of a police manhunt.
Clarke called police to her home after she found the bodies of her children - Kaitlynne, 10, eight-year-old Max and five-year-old Cordon. She is now receiving medical care in an undisclosed location.
Robert Richard, who lives about 30 metres from the home, said Clarke was not around the house for at least a day before the gruesome discovery, and the children's father was caring for them. He said he assumed Ms. Clarke was with her mother or a friend.
