A Mountie with B.C.'s anti-gang unit has been charged with stealing from another patron at the River Rock Casino in Richmond.
Const. Nick Sharma was off-duty when he allegedly swiped a $400 cash ticket left behind in a slot machine and cashed it in on Dec. 9.
Crown prosecutors approved one charge last week of theft under $5,000 against Sharma, an officer with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit.
Sharma is also subject to an internal police investigation and has been reassigned to desk duties.
He is scheduled to make his next appearance in Richmond provincial court on May 19.
