A Mountie in Terrace, B.C. has been charged with assault for allegedly punching a woman after an arrest last year.
Const. Robert Hull allegedly assaulted the woman on Oct. 17, 2010 in the RCMP cell block after arresting her outside a local night club. Police say she was drunk at the time.
He was charged in the alleged assault on Feb. 23, and is scheduled to appear in court on March 22.
Officers with the Terrace detachment investigated the incident under the supervision of the Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP, and an internal code of conduct investigation is also underway.
Hull has been re-assigned to desk duties pending the outcome of both investigations.
Just last week, another B.C. Mountie was found guilty of assault for punching a pregnant woman in the face. Const. Steve Conlon of Kelowna was convicted for hitting Crystal Young in February 2009.
