The skeletal remains of a Vancouver, B.C., man missing since early June have been located in the North Shore mountains.
Daniel Hughes had not been heard from since June 5, when he was seen with his distinctive yellow mountain bike leaving his Oak Street apartment.
A week later, the 29-year-old's bike and helmet were found tied to a tree near the Seymour Heights area of North Vancouver, spurring an intensive 20-person search. Rescue teams found no trace of Hughes.
Earlier this month, human remains were found on Mount Seymour. North Vancouver RCMP has confirmed they belonged to Hughes, but the cause of death has not been established. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
"Given the environmental conditions out there, it's not abnormal for us to find skeletal remains, based on the amount of time it's been," Const. Quentin Frewing said Sunday.
At the time of his disappearance, Hughes' father Allan said Hughes may have been distressed, and that he often biked out of Vancouver to blow off steam.
