An unidentified man was shot by the RCMP in a light industrial complex in Surrey, B.C., Tuesday evening.
Details about the victim, the extent of his injuries, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident have not been revealed.
The case has been handed over to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), which is expected to take an "arms length approach'' according to RCMP Sgt. Roger Morrow.
The shooting occurred at 80th Ave. and 120th Street, in an alley behind a suite of offices.
"We are treating this very seriously,'' Morrow said during an interview with reporters.
The victim was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster for treatment.
Witnesses told CTV British Columbia that several police cars arrived at the scene and boxed the man in, prior to the shooting incident.
