A 46-year-old man is in hospital undergoing a mental health assessment after being Tasered twice by police at a Downtown Eastside hotel Saturday night.
Staff at the Pacific Hotel on East Georgia had complained the man was out of control, and what police say was a 'bad trip'.
Vancouver Police Department Insp. Eric Grummish says soon after officers arrived they were entangled in a fight with the victim.
"All parties went to the floor. The members tried to subdue the fighting party with a contact from the Taser and that had no effect," Grummish said.
The man was then Tasered by police.
"They discharged their Taser and were able to let get the subject under control."
Police say no one was hurt in the incident, and the man is expected to recover.
No word yet on whether charges will be laid.
