A man who was gunned down in Burnaby, B.C., Wednesday has been identified as a 27-year-old Vancouver man.

Police said Thursday afternoon that they aren't releasing the victim's name until the family has been notified.

The man is known to police, said Cpl. Dale Carr, spokesman for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Police found the man, who had been shot multiple times, in a black SUV in a parking lot behind a building in the 7700-block of Edmonds Street.

The building houses a martial arts studio and a dance studio.

Witnesses told police they saw two men wearing dark clothing flee the scene in a minivan. Police have not released a more detailed description.

As CTV News first reported Wednesday, a pair of children found two guns on the street just a few blocks away from the shooting.

Police said Thursday the guns will be sent to a lab and compared with evidence found at the shooting scene to see if there's a connection.
